This is a response to Miss-Shiki-Scarlet's comment. I kinda always wanted to see something like this made, so might as well do it. Feel free to adapt this to comic or anything if you think it's funny enough (and feel free to make any alterations).

UNDERTALE SPOILERS BELOW!!!

*Let's pretend Frisk killed Asgore and Flowey a few rooms back. They're now in a hall approaching an elevator.*

Froggit:
We surrender, Frisk. The Underground is yours.
Frisk: Where... is... Chara?
Froggit: Where they've always been: in the basement, waiting for you.
*Frisk kills Froggit and continues, enters elevator down.*

Chara: You did it. You did what the other humans could not do: wipe out all monsters. Do you feel like a hero yet?

*Frisk lets off at the basement.*

Chara: Please, come in... Tell me, Frisk, what did you think of what you saw? Do you think it was the work of a madman?
Frisk: Yeah. I thought you lost your mind.
Chara: I assure you, Frisk, I'm just as sane as you are...

*Frisk walks in and sees Chara painting on a canvas: it depicts Toriel lying on the ground, surrounded by dozens of dusty outlines of monsters, while Frisk looms overhead.*

Chara: No matter how hard I tried, I never could escape the reality of what happened here. That was my downfall... There! Finished. I hope you like it.
Frisk: What the heck is going on?
Chara: Your eyes are opening for the first time. It hurts, doesn't it?

*Frisk takes a closer look.*

Chara: Go on... What do you think?
Frisk: ... You did this.
Chara: No. You did. Your actions killed 90 innocent monsters. Someone has to pay for your crimes, Frisk. Who's it going to be?

*Chara walks behind the canvas and disappears. Frisk walks behind and sees Chara has disappeared. In the distance is a plot on a bed of golden flowers.*

Frisk: Chara, is that you?
Chara: You tell me.
Frisk: I'm done playing games, Chara.
Chara: I assure you, this is no game.

*Frisk approaches the grave, sees it's Charas. Frisk clutches their knife. Cue the music.*

Chara: It seems reports of my... survival have been greatly exaggerated.
Frisk: This is impossible.
Chara: Oh, I assure you, it is.
Frisk: How?
Chara: Not how: why?... You were never meant to come here.

*Flashback to the Dummy fight.*

Toriel: When you encounter a monster, you will enter a fight. While you are in a fight, strike up a friendly conversation. Stall for time, and I will come to resolve the conflict.

*Flash forward.*

Frisk: What happened here was out of my control.
Chara: Was it? None of this would have happened if you had just stopped...

*Flash back to Frisk stumbling through the garbage dump, which begins to burn as they walk.*

Chara: But on you marched, and for what?
Frisk: I wanted to save everyone.
Chara: You're no savior. Your talents lie elsewhere.

*Flash back to Frisk killing Papyrus, the Mad Dummy, Mettaton.*

*Flash back to Frisk hovering over a mortally wounded Toriel.*

Toriel: Now I see who I was protecting by keeping you here... Not you... But them...

*Toriel collapses, turns to dust. Frisk is shocked.*

*Flash forward.*

Frisk: This isn't my fault!

*Chara disappears, and we briefly see Frisk talking to themselves.*

Chara: It takes a strong person to deny what's right in front of them. And if the truth is undeniable...

*Flash back to the Monster Kid. Undyne is mortally wounded.*

Chara: ... you create your own.

Monster Kid: Undyne, are you okay?!

*Undyne turns into dust.*

Monster Kid: Oh man! This ain't good! What am I gonna do?!
Frisk: You think you can strike me down?
Monster Kid: What are you talking about? Snap out of it!
Frisk: You're gonna have to try a little harder than that!

*Monster Kid briefly flashes into a hallucination of Undyne The Undying, and Frisk attacks as Monster Kid flinches.*

*Flash Forward.*

Chara: The truth, Frisk, is you're here because you wanted to feel like something you're not: a hero.

*Flash back to Frisk confronting Sans.*

Frisk: Sans!
Sans: You dirty brother killer!

*The hallucination flashes away to show Frisk facing down Alphys and every single monster she evacuated.*

*Flash back to Chara walking through Papyrus' puzzle, holding the toy knife.*

Chara: I'm here because you couldn't accept what you've done. It broke you.

*Frisk looks on the back of the Toy Knife, and it says "Property of Chara." They pretend to be stumbling through Papyrus' puzzle.*

Frisk: Chara! Chara, please!
Sans: You know, doing a puzzle could be fun.
Frisk: It's not me. It's Chara. They're doing it. All of it!

*Flash forward.*

Chara: You needed someone to blame, so you caste it on me: a dead kid.

*The battle hud pops up.*

Chara: I know the truth is hard to hear, Frisk, but it's time. You're all that's left, and we can't live this lie forever...

*The commands Erase and Fight pop up.*

Chara: I'm going to count to five, and then I'm erasing this pointless world.
Frisk: You're not real! This is all in my head!
Chara: Are you sure? Maybe it's in mine... One!
Frisk: No! Everything, all of this, it was your fault!
Chara: If that's what you believe, then fight me! Two!
Frisk: I... I didn't mean to hurt anyone...
Chara: Noone ever does, Frisk... Three.

*The heart appears. You make your choice here.*

Chara: Four... Is this really what you want, Frisk?... So be it. Five!

*A slash animation appears over the game, the screen fills with 9s and shakes violently, then crashes.*

ABORTED GENOCIDE ENDING:

*A slash animation appears over Chara, dealing 9999999999 damage. Frisk drops the knife, which shatters.*

Chara: It takes a strong person to deny what's right in front of them.
Frisk: Stronger than you were.
Chara: Whatever you say, Frisk.

*Chara's body begins to dissolve.*

Chara: What happens next, don't be too hard on yourself. Even now, after all you've done, you can still go home...

*Chara dissolves completely.*

Chara: Lucky you...

*Frisk stumbles away. They end up at a balcony overlooking New Home, burning down. A Whimsalot appears behind them.*

Whimsalot: What now, Frisk?
Frisk: We finish the game.
Whimsalot: And what game would that be?
Frisk: Just get me a freakin'-

*Frisk turns around to see nobody's there.*

Frisk: radio?...

*Slow pan away from Frisk over ruined New Home.*

Frisk: This is Frisk. It's time for all monsters of the Underground to go free... All but one...

*Credits.*

*Post Credits, human police show up at the opening of Mt. Ebott in cop cars. Frisk comes stumbling out of the newly opened barrier, likely using the power of their LV or something. Not sure, but let's just roll with it. Frisk is wearing Chara's sweater. They also have Chara's blank smile. They're covered in dust.*

Cop 1: Sergeant, this is Unit 1. I think we found them. Frisk?
Cop 2: They're armed!
Cop 1: It's okay. Hold your fire.
Cop 3: I don't understand. What are they doing?

*The battle menu pops up.*

Cop 3: Look at their eyes: something's not right.
Cop 1: Frisk, we're here to help, but first, I need you to lay down your weapon.
Cop 3: They're in shock. Give them a second.
Cop 1: Just hand me your weapon, Frisk. We're here to take you home.

*The options include Fight and Mercy.*

MERCY:

*Frisk hands over the knife.*

Frisk: It's over... Time to go home...

*Later, in the back of the cop car, Frisk is disheveled.*

Cop 1: You know, Frisk, we drove around this whole mountain to find you. We saw things. If you don't me asking, how did you survive all of this?
Frisk: ... Who said I did?...

FIGHT - SUICIDE:

*Frisk fights back, all of the cops freak out, and a battle ensues. However, Frisk dies in the first round...*

*Exit the battle screen to show Frisk, lying on the ground, dying...*

Frisk (voiceover): Remember back in the Ruins, Chara? Before things got bad? We were talking (about nothing, really), and I said something about going home, and you said...

Chara: Home? Heh. We can't go home. There's a line people like us have to cross. If we're lucky, we do what's necessary, and then we die. No: all I really want, Frisk, is peace...

FIGHT - VICTORY:

*Frisk kills every single cop with the Real Knife.*

Cop On Radio: Unit 1! This is command. We heard screams. Is everything okay? Officers, what is going on?!

*Frisk picks up the radio.*

Frisk: In this world... it's kill or be killed...

*Cue music as Frisk drops the radio and walks back to their cave on Mt. Ebott as the camera slowly pans out across the destruction.*

Ehh... there are three Deconstruction stories that I greatly dislike. Undertale, Spec Ops: The Line, and Diamond in the Rough. Most because they take themselves WAY too seriously and rely solely on shock value and You Bastard! moments just to drive the author's narrative (no offense meant, Spaztique, but I just want to get my opinions out here).

Look at Spec Ops: The Line. It's been noted that the plot could have been avoided if Walker had obeyed orders and went back with Adams and Lugo, and people have cited this as evidence of good storytelling. I don't believe this, because setting up the narrative this way makes Walt Williams look like a very pretentious, hypocritical writer (in my eyes, at the very least). You can't just set up a Could Have Avoided This Plot without people asking WHY the author wrote that way in the first place (and no, using this approach to mock the Fan Dumb, Vocal Minority portion of your audience is not the catch-all, end-all solution to this form of criticism).

Also... I have the feeling that people would just mock me for being a sentimental, bad writer if I ever tried writing a fix fic of Diamond in the Rough by having Brolli say no to DitR!Yukari and DitR!Gensokyo and ending the story right there and then... because that's not what the creator was going for.

Because that's not the point of this kind of Deconstruction.

Sigh... it really does suck to have an unpopular opinion at times.

I even wrote a short fanfic exploring this contradiction and my thoughts on the matter:

...Thoughts?
